iuFOR launches online forestry training tool to support Vietnam Universities

The experience of iuFOR, the University of Valladolid and the Cesefor Foundation in forestry training and online tools, at the service of Vietnamese Universities in the face of the coronavirus crisis.

Several years of collaboration between the University Institute of Sustainable Forest Management (iuFOR), of which is part of the School of Agricultural Engineering of the University of Valladolid (palencia campus) with universities in Vietnam thanks to the BioEcoN project have had results not only within it. It is at times like the current one, with uncertainty and need of the various partners, that initiatives arise such as the creation of a virtual campus in Hanoi (Vietnam) thanks to the collaboration of 5 Vietnamese universities, iuFOR, and the Cesefor Foundation.

It is a collaboration with 5 Vietnamese universities with which iuFOR already has joint projects. They are: National University-University of Science, Vietnam National University-University of Social Sciences, Vietnam National University of Forestry, Thai Nnguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry and Thai Nnguyen University of Science, all in northern Vietnam. iuFOR participates with them in the BioEcon project at UVAmobplus and they have led Vietnam's recent photo exhibition at Casa Junco in Palencia.

UNV University of Science is a public research institution of the National University of Vietnam, Hanoi and the Ministry of Education and Training. Its objective is high quality human resources education, talent cultivation, research, development and knowledge transfer in natural sciences for construction, development and protection.

Since iuFOR we have installed, assisted by the Cesefor Foundation, a virtual campus in Hanoi: http://ecampus.cargis.org:1080/moodle/ This is the first phase and the next is that the National University-University of Science transfer the experience to the other partners. A total of 5 courses in English and Vietnamese have been prepared to date, and are related to Environmental Engineering including data management and analysis and draw on all the experience gained in the BioEcon project.

Once again iuFOR and the School of Agricultural Engineering of the University of Valladolid on the palencia campus are reaffirmed as a reference institution in both research and training in forest management worldwide, in this case supporting in online training to other institutions.
